As Florida begins its path to recovery following Hurricane Milton, there’s a sense of hope as airports and top attractions prepare to reopen. While the Category 3 hurricane brought significant disruption, the state’s famous resilience is shining through.
Positive Progress on Hurricane Recovery
The storm, which made landfall on Wednesday evening, left over 3.5 million homes and businesses without power.
However, restoration efforts are in full swing, with teams working hard to bring power and services back to affected communities. Critical infrastructure is already being repaired, and many parts of the state are on track to reopen soon.
With Florida’s experience and strong recovery teams, the focus of the theme parks is now on welcoming visitors back as soon as possible.

Theme Park Reopening Plans
Walt Disney World Resort announced it will reopen its theme parks and Disney Springs on Friday, October 11, resuming normal operating hours.
In a statement, the resort expressed relief that it had weathered the storm without significant damage: “Our hearts go out to fellow Floridians who have been affected by this storm.”
Meanwhile, Experience Kissimmee, the official tourism board for Osceola County, reported that damage to local tourism infrastructure was minimal.
“Local authorities and emergency teams acted swiftly to assess and secure affected areas, ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors,” the organisation said. Thanks to these efforts, many tourism activities and businesses have begun reopening.
Nearby theme parks, such as Universal Orlando Resort, also plan to restart operations in the coming days, though visitors are encouraged to check with each venue for specific details.
