9 Disney World Christmas Celebrations & Events you just can’t miss!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade

It’s the most wonderful time of the year….

Visiting Walt Disney World is an amazing experience full of cheer and celebration no matter what time of year you go. But there’s one season where the most magical place on earth becomes even more spectacular – Christmas!

The Disney World Christmas period pretty much starts from November onwards. This is when the parks are filled with extra-special events, attractions and experiences that you wouldn’t get to see the rest of the year.

If you’re lucky enough to be visiting in the festive season, you definitely need to tick these off your Disney Christmas list!

1. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom)Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

With gingerbread men, elves and Disney Characters galore dancing down Main Street USA, a festive fireworks show and even a special appearance from Santa himself, Mickey’s ultimate Christmas party is fantastic fun and will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. Ho ho ho!

Note: This is the only event on this list that isn’t included with your Disney World tickets and incurs an extra cost. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on certain dates in November and December.

2. A Frozen Holiday Wish (Magic Kingdom)

This show is performed twice every evening in the festive period and involves Queen Elsa using her ice-powers on Cinderella castle … need I say more??!

3. The Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

This 16-foot edible structure also serves as a shop selling lots of lovely festive gingerbread goodies. Yum yum.

(The house is made of real gingerbread, but unfortunately you’re not allowed to eat it – sorry!)

4. Holidays Around the World (EPCOT)

In EPCOT’s World Showcase, each of the pavilions has its own Holiday Story Teller whose job it is to celebrate the festive traditions of that country! If you want to see Santa and/or Father Christmas, head to The American Adventure and the UK.

5. Main Street USA (Magic Kingdom)Main Street USA at Christmas

Seen as the “grand entrance” to Disney World’s main even – the spectacular Cinderella Castle – Main Street USA is beautifully decorated this time of year. They have had to change the wreaths due to the new taller floats for the Festival of Fantasy parade, but it still looks amazing.

6. Candlelight Processional (EPCOT)

This is a wonderful and very moving event with a huge choir, orchestra and best of all, a celebrity narrator to tell the Christmas Story. They have some awesome celebrity guests including Neil Patrick Harris!!!

7. The tree at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Christmas Tree at Animal Kingdom

Where else will you find an enormous jungle-themed Christmas tree?

8. The Decorated Campsite at Disney’s Fort Wilderness

It has become a tradition for visitors to decorate the campsites here and it can be really fun to walk around and see the amazing displays. To make this an even more special and festive experience, you can take a special Holiday Sleigh Ride around the resort (If you want to do this make sure you book it well in advance!)

9. Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

2015 is the 20th and final year of this breath-taking lights and music display, it will be running from November 6th 2015 until January 3rd 2016.

So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to head to Disney World this holiday season, what are you waiting for?? Florida theme park tickets are still available for the Christmas period and beyond!
